Offering Alms in the Morning

What we will see as daily activity in the morning on the roads that not far from temples are both young and elderly Buddhists are waiting to give Alms. Alms giving are foods and daily items offering to monks. Buddhists believe that giving Alms is just not religion maintaining by offering foods to monks fore living and having good health in order to continue studying and teaching Buddhism but they also believe that it is a kind of offering merit to ancestors who already passed away such as parent, brothers, sisters, friends and teachers, to release from evil condition or to forgive someone who were trouble makers and to free hatefulness. In reality, when giving alms with the pure mind, the result of worship is a kind of mental health treatment. Alms givers will experience pure mind, be calm, have positive thought and able to forgive other people without conditions.

Alms giving are conducted only in the morning, however, it can be organized in many occasions such as when monks go for alms giving in the morning or invite them to house and organize Alms Giving. According to the elder of the village said that Alms Giving started after Lord Buddha passed away for 30 years, there were 250 monks gathered on the full moon day of third months (Luna year) without appointment. In the meeting, there were Buddhism lectures and they issued 227 Buddhism rules and one of monk's daily activities was to practice walking for Alms Giving. At around 6 am in every morning, monks get start to walk for Alms Giving after their worship, meditation, and, clean up their houses, and then will return to temples at around 7 am for breakfast before starting other daily works.....
